The children have been working very hard and would love for you to come see their performance on May 2, 3, 4, 10, 11 at 7pm and May 4 at 2pm Adults $10.00 and student/senior $8.00 Tickets should go on sale 2 weeks prior to opening night. Performances will be at our new ShoeBox theater at 231 S 1st Street, St. Helens.

These amazing books of poetry about bugs and birds will come to life on stage with various theatrical methods.

Cast Call March 5th at 6:00 pm

Cast Requirements:

  • Girls and boys
  • Grades 3 through 8 Various roles on stage and backstage.
  • Kids will have the opportunity to experience a variety of theatrical methods and work in other areas in the theater.

Musical requirements:

  • Seeking a pianist who can provide background music for the various poems.
  • Would be willing to use other instruments if presented.

Needed: Costumes/Props/Painting 
Seeking adults to assist in creating the many prop pieces, puppets and costumes of bugs and birds.

Performance Dates May 2, 3, 4, 10, 11 at 7pm and May 4 at 2pm Matinée.

“Twelve Angry Pigs” Spring Break Theater Clinic

Shoestring Children’s Theater Proudly presents a spring break theater clinic for the “Twelve Angry Pigs”.

When: The week of March 25th thru March 29th from 8am to 3pm with a performance on March 29th at 7pm.

Where: 231 S. 1 st Street, St. Helens

Who: We have spots for 20 children.

All children could be actors or given a production staff position off stage (or part of the technical crew) or even both.

It will be a first come first served so let us know as soon as possible.

We are taking youth from Jr. High thru High School grades for this show.

Cost: $25 per child. This payment is non-refundable; please have your child bring a sack lunch and a water bottle every day to clinic.

Performance: $5 per person to get into the performance on the 29th (Children 5 and under are free with paid adult)

Auditions for “Our Miss Brooks”

Our Miss Brooks was a hit on radio from the outset; within eight months of its launch as a regular series, the show landed several honors.  You will laugh and have a great time with this classic old time radio special.  What a great way to get back into theater!

2 Episodes Cast Needs:
Female: 3 -4 mature, 1 teen (13-17)
Male: 4-6, includes two teens (13-17)

When are Auditions?
Tuesday Feb 26 from 6:30 to 8PM
Wednesday Feb 27 from 6:30 to 8PM

Annual Membership Meeting

There will be an annual membership meeting for members on Sunday, December 2nd 2018 at 6pm.  We are asking all current and future members to come to this meeting so we can have the meeting and discuss ShoeString Community Players’ future with a new theater space.  So you have been asking for years, when do we get our own space to perform?  This won’t eliminate the need for using the St. Helens High School for performing musicals, but now we have our own rehearsal space.  There are is a tremendous opportunity to volunteer and have fun.   If you are interested in acting young and old, please attend this meeting.  A children’s theater is in our future again as well.

DECEMBER AUDITIONS FOR CHILDREN’S THEATER

“The Suessified Christmas Carol”,  a  whimsical adaptation of “The Christmas Carol”.
Audition dates: Nov. 4, 5, 6 at 6 PM at 231 S 1st Street.
Cast requirements: grades 6 thru 12. Minimum of 10 cast members in various roles both Male and female.
But be available for all rehearsals. Information will be available at the auditions.
Performance dates are Dec 13, 14, 15 at 7 PM and Dec. 15 at 2 pm.

October is Nearly Over, Don’t Miss St. Helens Haunted Tours

Last Weekend (October 26th – 28th)

St. Helens Haunted Tours

A live haunted tour thru Olde Towne St. Helens. Tour length 45 Minutes. See the local haunts, and re-live the secret, spooky, and creepy history of St. Helens. May be scary for young children, parent discretion advised. Please dress for Oregon weather and keep warm. Have a safe and happy a Halloween! Limited to 25 people per performance. Please buy your tickets early. Remember to dress for the weather and bring an umbrella

Performances will be as follows:
10-26 – 7:00pm, 8:00pm, 9:00pm
10-27 – 7:00pm, 8:00pm, 9:00pm
10-28 – 7:00pm, 8:00pm

The admission price will be $25.00.
Tour Starts at the Ticket Booth  in the Rose Garden next to the Old Columbia County Historic Courthouse.

Auditions for Children’s Theater

Children and young adults needed to audition for parts. Who should audition? 7th Grade and up.

We have a new home for our theater!  We are in the old Masonic building  at 231 S First Street, St. Helens, Oregon 97051 and it sits right on the plaza were the town pumpkin is lit every weekend.

Be part of a tradition by coming to our audition dates and times: September 10, 11, 12, 13 & 14  (Monday thru Friday) from 6:30pm to 8pm.

We would love to see new and old faces and show you around the new space for the theater.

We will have children’s theater that we are auditioning for a show called  “10 Short Scary Stories and Poems” for children to act in or read.  This will be a fun experience for all.  Especially for the kids of  all ages and experience levels are welcome.  Also invited are anyone interested in off-stage positions, such as costumes, hair, makeup, set construction, lighting, sound, directing, or special effects.
